Wanchese Inn B&B: "Wanchese Inn is Awesome! It was a Laid-Back,
Relaxing B&B for our Honeymoon!" A TripAdvisor Member, Columbia, SCMay 19, 2006
My new husband and I wanted to visit the
outer banks for our honeymoon and were bringing our jon boat along on
the trip. We wanted more comfort than a hotel, so we chose a B&B. In
order to find the B&B we were looking for, we checked the outer banks
visitor's center website and read about all the things to do there. We
chose Roanoke Island, as it was near the Alligator River Wildlife Refuge
(I am a biologist and he is a forester, so wildlife ventures were a MUST
for our trip). The website showed a list of B&B's under the
accommodations section, and I read about all of our choices and selected
the Wanchese Inn B&B, due to the boat parking and boat slip availability
to its guests.
After calling the Wanchese Inn, the owners were so nice and laid-back
(and we are laid-back people), that we knew that was the place for us.
We weren't disappointed. Great people, great conversations over
breakfast with the owners, and nice huge comfy room with jacuzzi that
was fabulous! We had almost the entire top floor of the house to
ourselves. Not ever having been from the outer banks before, we were
interested in its history. There were countless historical pictures on
the wall how the town once looked. We were so glad we stayed in Wanchese
and away from the bigger town of Manteo and hustle and bustle of Nags
Head.
While there, we visited the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Pea Island
National Wildlife refuge, fished in Oregon Inlet off of Pamlico Sound,
checked out Spencer Yacht Manufacturing area, ate great seafood at RV's,
and caught a pool game or two at Shucker's. We also visited Jockey's
Ridge State Park in Nags Head (huge 140' sand dunes) in which we hiked
barefooted, and Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge on the way back
home to Columbia, SC.
We had a nice time. Many thanks to Lynn and Bill of the Wanchese Inn B&B
for an awesome time!
